2nd Cap One card

I keep getting emails and mailers from Cap One offering me another of the same card I have ($39 AF) cash back no hassle rewards.  I am currently carrying a balance on my cap card but will be paying it off soon.  I have $2250 credit limit on it and it's about a year and a half old.  I would probably not apply until it is paid off.

I have an Orchard that I want to close when I get another card.  It's been stuck at 300 for the entire year and a half that I have had it.  ($0 balance)

Should I go ahead and apply for the second card?  If I knew it would increase like the first, it would be a no brainer.  Just the fact that it is a rewards card with a lower AF and probably a higher starting amount (I started at $500 with my current) makes it better than my orchard.

Or should I just keep waiting until 2013 when the last of my baddies fall off.   I also have a home depot card ($4,000 - balance $150.  No interest until January) and a Kohls card ($400 - $0 balance).

Re: 2nd Cap One card

What is your EQ scores and how many new accounts and inq's reporting on EQ? If you have less than 3 inq's on EQ and no new accounts, I suggest to apply for the Nordstrom Card. Even if you get approved for the store card, you can ask for upgrade after 7 months to their Visa card. They are very generous with Credit Limits and CSR's.
