5% Category - Bay Port CU

Have anyone ever heard of this card? It's a quarter categories.

Looks interesting, particularly the 5% total on groceries. Too bad the CU membership is limited to shipyard employees and the VA peninsula area residents (and family), but otherwise looks like a nice card for those who are eligible.

Yep found my way to that card like a week or two ago. Doesn't look like there's any loopholes to membership.

It's a relatively small credit union for this area (Hampton Roads, VA).  Navy Federal is the king around these parts.  Bay Port has a good reputation though and has been opening more branches on the Southside (Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Chesapeake).  There's no loophole I know of to join.

It also seems a lot more generous than other 5% rotators.   Unless I am reading this wrong, it looks like 3% on ANYTHING each quarter up to $3000 spend, and any spend within the category earns an extra 2%.  Freedom/Discover etc is a) capped at $1,500 spend and b) earns 1% off category.

So, serious Cashback MyFicoers need to move to Tidewater or Hampton Roads!
