99/500

I did a search for threads on this topic, but was looking for a little further info.  I was wondering what everyone's scores were when they received this card.  My EX is the only actual FICO that I've gotten and it is 635.  I've just opened a checking account with BoA online and transferred funds from my current bank in hopes that if I'm not offered this card when I apply (for the unsecured that I'll be denied for) I can call and tell them I want to start a relationship with the company, etc.  I do not currently have any other cc's open.

Re: 99/500

They may counter offer with this card, or the normal secured card if you don't qualify for the Platinum Plus Visa.

I would accept if they offer either. Both will graduate in 9-12 months of positive account history.

The BOA secured cards are the finest in the business, and actually will grow with you as your scores improve.

Re: 99/500

I do not currently have any other cc's and unfortunately do have some baddies on my reports (some unpaid collections and a couple chargeoffs).  I'm currently working on cleaning them up but figured if I could get a cc acct. opened it would help me in the future.  By the time the secured card went to unsecured, I would have all the baddies taken care of.

Re: 99/500

my ficos were in the 570s when i got it in late april 08 (my scores have since risen 100+ points, but i don't have new ficos/am not paying for them until i think i've passed the 700 club).  no new baddies since 03, but several chargeoffs (2 hsbc ccs and 2-3 collection agencies showing), several 30-120 day lates, and an unpaid tax lien.  ccs @ the time of getting the 99/500 were 2 orchards and 2 first premiers (a piddly 1200 cl available) that had been open about 15 mos.  how/why ba approved me is beyond me.  just before i apped, i opened a ba checking and savings acct...the opening balances weren't impressive (25 ea. lol but it's since grown substantially), but i think this may have 'helped me.'  oh btw, i had burned ba in the past- 2 ccs charged off (unpaid), and 2 closed bank accts (which had been overdrawn and bounced checks/nsfs and landed me in chex system.).  my old ba muckups had been off my reports for several (3-5) years before i applied and obviously i was out of chex systems.

how/why ba approved me for the 99/500 is beyond me, but i thank my lucky stars they did.  i thought i'd be doomed to the land of first premiers and orchards for all eternity.  can't wait for my ba 99/500 to graduate!

Thanks a lot, creditreformer.  Your baddies are kind of similar to mine so I'm feeling kind of okay about apping.  My CA's and CO's are also VERY old (about to come off my reports in the next 0-2 years).  I'm hoping the fact that I opened a checking account with them may help.  I transferred over $1000 from my current bank, so maybe the amount will help too, and will probably transfer more over once I decide to apply for the card.  I was planning on waiting until I receive my check card and everything before I apply so that it definitely registers that I'm banking with them when my application is reviewed.

Sorry for the dumb question, but what's a 99/500?

Re: 99/500

Bank of America card. Partial secured. You put $99 and get a $500 CL right off the bat. I really want one! You can only apply by invite, usually getting declined for one of their other cards. In a year it graduates to a fully unsecured CC. I read the growth potential on this card is very good.
