Sheesh, my APR is still at 19.24% even with having the card over two years and paying in full. Perhaps I should request a decrease. Thanks for posting.
I got my AMEX Delta Gold down to 9%
It is not just a matter of time. It is not just a matter of whether you pay in full or not. Your entire credit profile matters in determining if you qualify for an APR reduction.
DId Amex do a policy change or did I just chat with a rep who refused to help?
Every few months or so I reach out via chat to Amex to request an APR Reduction. I've gotten my Delta Platinum down from 18.99% to 10.49 and my BCE has a 9.99% APR until 01/18/2017 at which point it goes up to 15.49%
I had planned to chat with a representative again after Januaray to get the BCE down a bit but in the mean time I was hoping to get a bit lower on omy Delta.
When I reached out via the chat tool today, I was immediately given a number ( without even so much as a review of my account) and told I'd need to call in to get it done.
When I asked why I could not be helped, the rep responded that APR reductions are no longer being done via chat and I'd need to call in to their dedicated team to request such.
Anyone else had this experience recently?
My Clear card that I got about 8 years ago is at 13.49%, been that forever. Thing is I get no MR points from it, love the low interest though. This card is the lowest interest I have on any of my cards, may try and move credit to my new SPG card, even though the interest is not as low. Hmmm
Edit: I have a 4K CL on the Clear card.
Tried the chat again.
This time at least I got a bit further and the representative asked for the last 5 digits of the card and checked.
Sadly I was told that the 10.49% is currently the lowest APR they offer on the Delta Platinum card at this time.
Wow macman806 8 years That pretty good.
I would try for a CLI if I were in your shoes
I got both my Delta Platinum and my Clear card 2 years ago with a $5K and $5.5K CL initially.
I've used the " Increase Line of Credit " link on the Amex site a few times and got both raised.
My Delta Platinum now has a $10K CL while my Clear card has $13K CL and they were all soft pulls
December will make it 6 months since my last request and I plan to ask for another CLI at that time
I definitely like the interest on the Clear card, it's just that I don't get any MR off of using it. The interest on the other hand...
Congratulations on the wonderful APR reductions! ![]()

Just as a data point, APR reductions can be easily done via chat. They knocked all of my revolvers down the other night. However, on PRG they told me to call a number to discuss a reduction if I were ever to use POT feature. I PIF Amex cards but the reductions are nice.
