Good Morning everybody......
So I was added an an AU on my Fathers AMEX. Account is 36 years old with a $50K limit. The account popped onto Experian today, but all it shows is the balance. It's not counting any amount at all into utilization, except for the current balance on the card.
Can someone explain what's going on here??? I've attached a screenshot below. To my knowledge, I won't receive the decades of history, but shouldn't it at least factor into my utilization???
Hi @Dmessina666,
Which Amex did your father add you to? Based on the 1 month terms, I'm assuming it is a charge card (green, gold, platinum). Charge cards do not factor into utilization.

Looks like this is the case. If it was the Platinum, Gold, or Green it's a charge card, not a revolving credit card and it's reporting as it should.
Being added as an AU on an AMEX charge card arguably has little benefit and can actually cause more harm than good in some instances.
Thanks guys, it is the Gold. More harm it did indeed do. 21 point drop.
701 to 680. Awesome.

Just have him remove you and you should get them back.
You don't get history or any benefit to utilization with the Amex charge cards
