Not singling you out because two other posters also gave him erroneous information.  The 91 day wait is applicable when you are eligible for a CLI and get declined.  In this case he wasn't eligible and therefore automatically declined for an early attempt and not because of credit information.  Therefore the counter does not reset. 

The issue can be confusing and difficult to remember all the details.

Interesting guys. I'll apply sometime after june 9th then. 

being at 13,500. is 25,000 reasonable to ask? I don't want to ask for 40.5 (x3) because I don't want to send in paperwork to confirm income etc (120 annual). I figured I can try the 25K, then later ask for the 40K CL, which sounds like alot. LOL

In most cases as you were early. its possible that you did not trigger a reset. all you can do is try on your original time frame from december 10th. mine is actually december 8th. so im waiting until june 8th. but when you try on the correct date. it may or may not go thru. but in any case. they will tell you it has not been 90 days between attempts. that way you will know for sure without any doubt.

yes because also it still states that you need to wait the initial 90 days and i am NOT going through thousands of comments to read where someone says that it no longer exists lol (the 90 day rule)

That's the 61 day rule that is no longer in place.

In the 'old' days, people asked for a CLI before 61 days for a first card with Amex, they got a denial, and were able to request again after 61 days. Now you can request as soon as activation.

I found Irish responses newbie friendly, thank you, we all want to learn and there is information that is not clear and sometimes hard to find.

I like the sound of 'eligible' to be put into the Amex CLI rules. Something like: 'With Amex you ar eligible to ask for a CLI as soon as you can activate your card, if they deny your request, you have to wait 90 days to be eligible again, if they approve your CLI, you have to wait 180 days to be eligible again. If you request a CLI when you are NOT eligible, you will get a denial, but that will not reset your eligibility period, just wait a few days more to be at 90/180. Of course, this is the general rule, you are free to try and report any new findings, just like one user that reported that was able to get a CLI on 2 Amex cards that got 1 week apart, for most of us is only 1 CLI per card holder and not per card'

Right, but then it gets a little complex to order the rules in a newbie-friendly way.    So, since this is the internet, most people look at your first proposed sentence and decide they can apply for a CLI on activation, even though they got a CLI on another Amex less than 180 day ago!

I think it'd be reasonable for you to ask for 25k. I went from 15k to 25k a couple weeks ago after waiting the 180 days.
