I just discovered these boards only a handful of months ago but have read up on some truly valuable advice. Today was the 6-month anniversary since my last Amex CLI. A couple months back I product changed my Amex Blue with 7.24% APR to an Amex Blue Cash Everyday while keeping my 7.24% APR. I learned about product changes here. So, using another piece of information I read here I decided to ask for double my current credit limit; something I would have never considered doing until reading these boards. I would usually request small incremental increases. Today I clicked the love button for my $10,000 limit to be increased to $20,000 and was instantly approved. Good stuff.
Thanks myFICO Forums!
Woohoo! Congrats to you ![]()
Way to go!!! I thought you could ask for 3 times the current CL, no?
You can ask up to 3X, as long as it's not past 25,000 apparently.
Sometimes it's better to play it safe. Next time he can ask for $20,000.
Congrats, OP.
You know, I was worried about asking for 3x because that would have meant a $30,000 CL. I distinctly remember someone mentioning that AMEX is okay with soft pulls up to $25k. I honestly didn't even think $20k would get approved because I've never in my life requested a CLI of that much at one time. I wouldn't have dared ask for $25k because it was right at that barrier. I didn't want to talk to a rep who was going to ask me what I needed it for. I really didn't need the increase for anything more than improving my utilization percentage. Plus it's also good to know I have an ultimate "emergeny" card with a 7.24% APR.
Congrats, i love AMEX
Has anyone asked and been approved for 25k or did you stay under the threshold and ask for 24 or 24.5k?

I'm curious of this as well. I didn't want to tempt fate so I didn't ask for $25k. I figured $20k was already pushing it. I wonder if anyone has had success with requesting $25k without having to talk to a rep.

Thanks! I do too!
I'm thinking of asking for 21,500 (CL of 9,500), but didn't want to push my luck with $25,000.
