AMEX Chances

I have 740+ scores across the board. Utilization is about 32% of 49000, small business owner.

I burned AMEX over 7 years ago, and want AMEX again.

Tried the Prequalify but no luck. What are my chances of applying?  I make over 120K a year.

Did you settle with AMEX at all?

If you are blacklisted, you will not get a hard pull and will get denied for Prior Negative Relationship (something like that).

Re: AMEX Chances

You have at least two things working against you:

1.  defaulting on the Amex account

2.  reasonably high current utilization.

Can you clarify if you filed bankruptcy or just defaulted on an account?  Amex tends to have a very long memory but its easy to check your chances by applying.  If you're blacklisted your application will be automatically rejected.

Re: AMEX Chances

What is the amount burned to them? CO? Take it from my experience, the best thing to do is call and find out what the deal is- as others mentioned, they have a very longggggg memory. If PIF is something you can manage its deff a way in.

And are you willing to repay the old debt to Amex?

Even though it sounds like you don't legally owe it, Amex can refuse to take you back as a customer unless you pay it.

@Czyln

Here is the good news, you can apply to find out if your approved with hard pull, IF that's 1 of the reason. If you blacklisted they will not waste the money to pull ur credit, the internal system will flag you first.

I personally tried about every 4-6 months for a couple of years and then to my surprise I was approved. I only went for the Green Charge card, attempting to get back in the door.

Good luck to you and keep us all posted.

Your chances of getting another AmX card is nil. As others have said, AmX has a super duper long memory. You can call them and ask about a repayment plan if you can’t pay back in full.

|| AmX Cash Magnet $40.5K || NFCU CashRewards $30K || Discover IT $24.7K || Macys $24.2K || NFCU CLOC $15K || NFCU Platinum $15K || CitiCostco $12.7K || Chase FU $12.7K || Apple Card $7K || BOA CashRewards $6K

Re: AMEX Chances

Are you willing to pay back the $12k you owe? If so, they'll play ball and, at their sole discretion, may let you back in with an Optima card. Otherwise, you're boned.

Speaking from personal experience.

I Have Way Too Many of These.

American Express - No CLI or Appreciation Gift in 7 Years

Citibank - Handing Out Credit Limits Like Candy

Chase - Surprisingly, Still Tolerating My Credit-Chasing Ways

Bank of America - My Newest Bae.

Everyone Else.
