AMEX Clear credit on 2 cards?

Since both the Platinum and Green card have the $189 Clear credit is it possible to have a membership in clear on both cards? Say if I got a membership on the Platinum and wanted to get DW a membership on the Green Card?

I'm aware for a small fee I can add someone to the primary membership but figure why pay that if i can get a second membership covered under the other cards benefits

Re: AMEX Clear credit on 2 cards?

I could certainly be wrong but, with most Amex offers, they are listed across multiple accounts. Once you use it on one card, it generally disappears, or is ineligible on other cards.

Thinking about it more, that does make sense. No way they would allow a double dip on that offer.

Yes, double dipping is generally the reasoning behind it. I failed to mention it above.

The Clear credit isn't an Amex offer but one of the benefits of the cards.  It might be best to contact Clear.  I have multiple cards with the Global Entry/PreCheck credit and can use them for whoever I want.

@wingennis good info, but isn't there language that says it can be used for the account holder, or an authorized user. That's why I thought they'd only allow one use per account holder regardless of it showing for different cards.

That's why I recommend getting clarification from Clear.  The worst they can do is say no and we are already there.

Re: AMEX Clear credit on 2 cards?

Speaking from experience, I have 3 cards that offer the Clear membership statement credit, and I was able to use the credit for 3 different people. Clear doesn't care if the credit card used to pay for the service matches the member who is receiving the service. Moreover Clear has no way of knowing, nor do they care that AMEX is giving a statement credit for the cost of their membership billed to certain cards.

That being said, there is a way to add a family member onto your Clear account for a reduced cost, however the membership for all people on one account is charged to one one card. The way to maximize the credit is to have each person sign up independently for their own Clear membership and charge the full cost to each credit card.

Cards listed in order of approval date, newest to oldest:

Business Cards:

FICO Scores as of August 18 2023:

100% correct.  As with PreCheck and Global Entry, the Clear credit is for any charge provided the merchant is Clear and neither entity supplies the identity of the person that the enrollment fee was paid for to Amex.
