AMEX Collection

I posted about my delta gold going delinquent a few days ago. I called AMEX today, again, to try and resolve it. They will NOT recall it back from the outside agency. Offered to pay the $2,200 to catch it up. Nor did they offer me any programs (Oasis or Reinstatement). Was with them since 2003. Never a day late. Can't even pay them. Or any offers. Very disappointed. I called the collection agency 3 times. Kept hanging up on me. Could barely speak English. Awful company. Refuse to deal with them for the next many months. Guess they'll just never be part of my wallet again. 😢

Thanks for the help everyone. At least I was able to figure out it won't be a resolvable issue.

Re: AMEX Collection

Pretty bad when they won't even take your money. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll sue you, then they'd have to take your money, lol!

FYI- Amex does not sell their debt, they only assign them to an outside collection agency. So when you pay the agency, you are paying Amex.
Try to log on to your Amex account and see if you can pay online. If that doesnt work, contact the Executive Office (EO) and let them know you are having issues paying your debt.

Re: AMEX Collection

Not sure if this could help, but last year I went through the payment arrangement song and dance with Amex for a charge off and had my membership restored after completing the agreement. 833-889-1355 was the contact number I had that got me directly to the department that handled paying charge offs.

edit: 833-574-2463 was the number I called to set up the arrangement. The former was the number I had once the arrangement was set up.
