I've got a 50k+$50 offer now and I'm holding out for 60k+$50. 40k+$50 is not a great offer.
OTOH, OP, if you'll be flying a lot in the near future and can benefit several times a year from free checked bags, then getting the card now may make more sense than waiting for a better offer.
