AMEX Dual Interface Problems

After seeing another post where someone converted their BCP to dual interface, I tried to do the same for my BCE.

Attempt 1: I requested a replacement card through chat and made sure to mention that I wanted the contactless feature. I was assured that I would get it. No dice. The first card came, it was chip only. Online it showed replacement reason: convert to c&s + contactless.

Attempt 2: I went through chat again and requested another contactless card and wanted to be assured that was what I was going to get. Amex overnighted the 2nd card and again, it was chip only. Online it showed replacement reason: convert to c&s + contactless.

Attempt 3: I called in for attempt 3. I said that I would like a tap & pay contactless card. The representative said that I have already received two contactless cards. I stated that, in fact, they are only chip cards, no tap & pay. The representative told me that they definitely are contactless and that I should probably try and use them at another location. I repeatedly told him that there are no wires inside of the card, and there is no wireless symbol anywhere on the card. He said that he would speak with his manager and they would talk with the card replacement team. He came back on the line and said that he guaranteed that the 3rd card will be tap & pay enabled. Online it showed replacement reason: worn, replace embossing.

Do you all think that the third time will do it? Will I possibly need to continue my quest to receive my first contactless credit card?

Re: AMEX Dual Interface Problems

my BCE got changed to contactless without much problem, but my green card, that was a nightmare. They shipped card reported it lost, so couldn't activate the card, second time they shipped also reported as lost, and so was the third.

but anyway, if it's contactless, you should see the wireless logo on the chip area in the back of the card.

Thanks for the picture of the back. I knew that the replacement cards were not contactless, but the rep kept insisting they are. Did you ever get the green card straightened out?

Since when could you get Express Pay (contactless) on the non-Zync charge cards?

Re: AMEX Dual Interface Problems

I got the third replacement today. Still not contactless. I called today and they will be sending a 4th card by tomorrow. The rep said that he had to click some extra step in the system to select contactless. He said the previous representatives probably did not do that. So, we shall see. If the 4th is not right, I don't think I'll pursue any further.
