AMEX PRG Retention Offer

I was debating whether to keep the AMEX PRG since I perform most of my spending is on the AMEX EDP card now and my AF was due to hit this month. I called the retention department and they offered me 20K MR Points (5K Now + 15K w/ 3K Spend in 90 Days). I decided to keep the account open.

Re: AMEX PRG Retention Offer

a bit late but I think you left $ on the table.  you shoud have waited until the fee hit and then called 3 weeks into the 30 day cancel window.   you might be able to reverse this and let the fee hit if you want, they are pretty flexable.  curious, what do you use the plat for?  you could also just cancel take the 5k and get the blue + and that would net you more for the $3k spend to keep the prg.  cannot see the reason to have overlapping cards but that is just me

Re: AMEX PRG Retention Offer

I am in the garden until next year and didn't want a HP. I have the Plat just for perks and thought 20k was a good deal for sitting in the garden

I get it, good plan considering.  I find the hp thing quite overrated but I suppose it individual based on ones profile, depth, aaoa, etc.  I did an app for an ed in march that was approved this month and a bgr in april and my ex did not move for the ed and moved down and up 1 pt in a week.  when i app for the blue + in the next month or two I expect the same.  I was in the garden for a while but I cannot turn down a bonus when a good one comes up
