So I just upgraded my Gold to Platinum based on the "special offer for you". Everything I am reading online is saying that if I upgrade my Gold to Platinum is that I will not receive SUB. Is this the case even if there is an offer for me? Has anyone else had an offer for this? Even when I clicked on request an upgrade the screen said something along the lines of "upgrade to platinum something something something 100k points in the 1st 6 months with 6k spend" and also had the information about the SUB in the disclosures.
Is the page just generic or do I get the points? I did chat with AMEX recently and let them know I was considering an upgrade If I could receive the SUB. The rep mentioned that different offers come up periodically. Within 72 hours the platinum offer popped up when I logged in.
Any insight would be appreciated!

Congrats on the upgrade and the SUB.
Just curious, where online and what sources were you reading such information? If you are offered the upgrade or you see the pop-up when signed onto your account, then they will honor the SUB offer once you accept the T&Cs.
Every one on the forums here says that in order to receive the SUB you cannot upgrade the card but actually have to app for it in addition to whatever you already carry with AMEX.
Only reason why I was a bit skeptical is because I actually don't have recall anyone ever mentioning such offer.

First, congrats on the PC, SUB, and fun new card!
Second, I think you are reading a little too much into people's comments that PC means no SUB. That is generally true, but there are exceptions. The general rule does not apply when an issuer specifically offers a bonus for PCing. That's what Amex did with you, and they're good for it.
Finally, there was some discussion of this offer a few months ago (link), lead by @Aim_High. It's a great one! Congrats again on getting and taking it!
So a new account signup bonus and an upgrade bonus are two different things. It's true that if you upgrade you won't get the new account bonus. However, if they offer you an upgrade bonus, then that's what you will get if you upgrade.

Thanks for the clarification all. I am confusing the SUB and a separate upgrade offer.

I think you got a great offer! Congrats! Especially if you got a SUB on the Gold card, so many MR points!

Hi OP!
Congrats with the AMEX offer.
AMEX does offer targeted upgrade bonuses. I have upgraded my Hilton and Bonvoy cards previously following the upgrade link. However you must use their offer (which you did). If you simply upgrade yourself w/o any offer from them, then there is no bonus.
Plus, AMEX has a strict once-only bonus rule. So I wouldn't upgrade w/o a targeted offer from them.
Best wishes on meeting the threshold!
I also got this offer in the mail. Since I was told a while back “no SUB on Plat 4 U” I took the offer… even though I have the CS Platinum. I can make the offer positive expected value based on $200 FHR credit x2, Airline Credit x2, the rebated Gold fee I paid plus the $150 statement credit 12 months of Uber credit (Protip: you can find <$200 five stars in Vegas and Mumbai, and Delta and Southwest are very good at triggering the airline credit on cheap tickets, also takeout doesn’t mark up Uber Eats). Leaving me up an extra 100k AMEX MR and change.
I basically am going to have to figure out something for groceries this summer and early fall (though I am out of the country for 6 weeks, so it’s not as bad as it seems), and I’ll keep my Green going for dining.
Jesus. Double Platinums because of a SUB and upgrade offer… I have become a ch*rn*r. Bless me Farther for I have sinned…
I won’t keep them both. I might keep the CS Plat, but honestly Gold+Green is the sweet spot for my spend. I might burn it all down if Citi, C1 or Chase give me some sugar, a Premier/Venture/CSR. At least this should cool me off for another 6 months chewing off that spend and it won’t show as a new card…

I am not sure about Southwest, but Delta airfare stopped triggering airline incidental credits a couple of years ago. The only exception to this has been if you pay the remainder of a ticket that was partially paid with a Delta gift card. But regular ticket purchases, paid upgrades after booking, etc. definitely no longer trigger the credits on Gold and Platinum charge cards.
Congrats to both of you for the huge upgrade offer!
