About 3 weeks ago I applied for the AMEX Everyday and was denied. I did this before the store cards so the only inquiries I had were from my bank and when I was buying a car back in January and then had to pull again in February. I did have an unpaid collection account when had updated in the last few months that is thankfully no longer there. So my question is should I attempt a recon and let them know that the collection account is no longer there? But then would they need to pull my report again? If so, then of course they would see all the new accounts that have already reported, not so much any inquiries cause they pulled my EXP and EQ took the majority of my inquiry hits. If not, I don't mind holding off til next year, just wondering if it would even be worth it to establish a relationship with them now if I had the opportunity. One of the main reasons I was looking at AMEX is my grandfather only carries that and he swears by it. And if anyone is the beacon of financial responsibility it's him so I respect his opinion greatly. Thanks guys and gals.

From what I know, unless there was a mistake on your report, Amex recon is not very successful and they stand behind their decision.
