Well, that certainly is interesting.
I guess that’s why the Rose Gold card I ordered non-contactless came contactless anyway. I have another on the way which I was assured would be chip and signature. I really hope they got it right this time. Let’s see if the third time is a charm. Your post does not inspire confidence.BH1985,
All I can say is good luck with that. AMEX was woefully unprepared for the interest in the Gold and Rose Gold metal cards. Their CSR's lack a significant amount of training on these offerings.
Based on 5½ hours on the phone I advise everyone to keep repeating NON-CONTACT LESS and CHIP & SIGNATURE ONLY. If the CSR appears to not understand you, have the call escalated.
I am amazed that anyone would spend 5 plus hours on the phone over this. But you did get 10k Amex points so at least you got that reward.

Forgive me if it’s already been mentioned, but what exactly is the reason for wanting the contactless?
Why get it?
1. It's faster than the chip most of the time.
2. No need to worry about batteries (unlike Apple Pay and the like).
3. Some transit systems let you tap the card itself instead of having to buy something from a ticket machine.
Why get a card without it?
1. You're worried about the security of contactless cards.
2. The paint on the contactless symbol apparently rubs off pretty easily.
3. You may get a heavier/sturdier card (though that doesn't seem to be true for Gold).
I was told today by a CSR that the chip and signature is not available for the Rose Gold card after he spoke with a special team because it gave him errors when he tried.

Fortunately, I’m a multitasker. It was mostly the hold soundtrack. Unfortunately, escalated calls always require repeating the facts.

That's not correct. At least 1 MyFICOer has posted a picture their non-contactless Rose Gold card. I suggest you make your request by phone Monday thru Friday between 9 and 5 and have the call escalated to a supervisor. I just confirmed that they are almost done PCing me to a non-contactless Rose Gold card.
I requested one via chat and was told they’d ship me one. I got the card replacement notification email. They didn’t say anything about having to jump through any product change hoops. Does anyone have any more recent data points on this? Also: does anyone know if the construction of the contactless version is any different?

That was it was first released. And it was one person. No one else has gotten a non-contactless regardless of many requests for it.

The one person who did get it has neglected to comment on the weight and composition. Assume it's no different.
