Has anyone else been triple pulled by AMEX and still wasn't approved?

When I receive the denial letter in the mail, I'll be sure to update you guys with the reasons as to why I was denied.

Looks like they considered your file borderline and pulled all 3 instead of just EX. Sorry to hear about your denial.

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: AMEX Triple pull..

Yeah the rep I spoke to, i hadher make sure to note that they're only allowed to reevaluate my application if they used the reports they got from the first three pulls and that if they couldn't, then for them not to worry about the recon, so well see what happens when I call on Monday.

Also, does being borderline mean I should be good to go in a few months? Like is it better that they had to pull all three since I was borderline instead of them denying me off of one report?

If your recon does not net a card I would hit the garden for 6 months and re-apply. Very good chance of approval.

Re: AMEX Triple pull..

If I can get these two papers done over the weekend, and I call Amex and find out I got approved, it may just be the best weekend I've had lol. I mean, even if the recon doesn't go well, I still have to applaud them for actually looking over my app again, unlike discover.

Yeah, Back in Jan, I applied... Triple pulled... Then I recon'd... Triple Pulled again... Then still declined.

I did finally try again a couple months later, and got approved without a recon. Smiley Happy

You got 6 HP's and no card?????

6 Pulls

Applied in the 17th.

Recon the day after, and said they'd get back to me... Bam, 3 more.

No card in the end.

Long story short, I cancelled my Optima/Oasis card after 7 years, and had no other credit. Did that after all the baddies went away, thinking the history was a sure thing with AMEX. Wrong.

Two months later, after getting a couple low cards, and a prime discover, they approved me ( after another 3 pulls in March )

9 pulls total = 1000 limit with Amex. LOL. I'll do the 3x CLI next month, though.

Yes.  I originally applied for the green charge card in Jan, they tripple pulled and denied me.  The denial leter said no score reporting from EX was the reason.  I didn't have any lines of credit open or closed reporting.  I re-apped in Mar when the Wels Fargo card I got in Jan started reporting and was approved and tripple pulled again.

Re: AMEX Triple pull..

Amex is not very good on recon, the best course of action is to wait a month or so and apply again for the green card.

I was denied for the Delta card with three pulls in March 2011. A month later I received pre-approvals for both a Green and Gold card. After getting approvals on both of those I got an approval for the BCE. All in the same week.

Re: AMEX Triple pull..

Do you have a thin or young file?  ~700 FICO should be plenty for a green card.

Strangely given what we know anecdotally on Amex's underwriting procedure as it comes to multiple bureaus being checked, that's pretty accurate.  Sort of a annoying that a "Hmmmm.... no" is worse for us as consumers than a "Hell no!"

In a few months, hard to say; see what Amex gives you for the denial reasons and then make a plan from there.

Re: pull happy Amex - it's a pretty rare occurence and I'd suggest it happens to forum folks more often than the general population.  This isn't Cap One where you'll be triple pulled for everything... and even then, HP's are pretty minor.  I wouldn't throw any lender out, even Cap One, over inquiries alone if there's a tradeline I want.
