When moving credit line from one card to another I am aware of DP's saying you have to leave $500 or $1000 behind on the donor card when doing so. If I am planning on closing said donor card anyway latter on do I just loose that little bit of credit line I have to leave behind or can they transfer that as well to the new card?
I last week applied for the Schwab investor card and it was approved no HP and they took $5k from my Everyday Preferred to open it up as I am at max exposure with them for now. Had a $30k limit on the EP and have not really used much of it at all so I wasn't surprised or upset by that. I'm wanting to just move that line to the new card as the EP is one of the annual fee cards im chopping from AMEX next year.
My own experiences with many major card issuers of MasterCard or Visa has been to leave the $500 or $1000 CL and upon closure they do NOT reallocate. It is gone.
Related to American Express, I have never had revolvers so no comment.
As to Jeeps ... had a CJ2A 1947 (first series civilian jeeps) Willys Overland Motors 4 cylinder valves in the block. We could surely talk "Pink Slips" ... ![]()

I was figuring whats left behind would be lost.
I like those old flat fenders, they are tough, never owned one but may try some day

When I closed my Amex BCE and Amex HH it required to leave $1100 on each when I moved limits to my other cards.

When I closed my AMEX Everyday card, I transferred as much limit as it would let me to my blue cash card. I can't remember if I had to keep $500 or $1000 or what it was, but I did lose whatever small limit was left on the closing card.

I got it done. As @Wu-Credit experienced i had to leave $1100 on the Everyday Preferred when moving the CL to my new Schwab Investor card. Bummed about leaving anything on the table but will be glad to drop that card along with our Green and Gold next year.
