AMEX new card with updated MSD??

I realized that when the updated AMEX card came in and I activated it that it is the identical card and account number with just a new MSD on the card. I dont see the reason why both cards arent usable. The new card and the old card as a back up. Has anyone else kept their old AMEX card with the old MSD as a back up card??

Re: AMEX new card with updated MSD??

I noticed this as well.. I've got my original sitting in my desk drawer at the moment. Everything on the card seems to be exactly the same minus the MSD so I figured I'd hang on to it for emergencies. I got my original and updated card on the same day and called in to activate just the one and I haven't had any issues using the corrected one so I don't think they can tell.

Re: AMEX new card with updated MSD??

If everything is the same on the two cards I'm sure you could use both without problems. I have two of my BofA CCs (one with the chip and the original w/o), and two of my Cap1 QSO CCs (the orginial + the custom design one) And I use both all the time w/o any problems.
