Re: AMEX question

Happy to share my approval data points, I approved for Amex BCE on Aug 4th when I was (and still am) approaching the competition of my rebuild. The text below is from my approval post - the Amex card was the second of 3 cards approved the same day.

"My fico8 scores & credit profile at time of application: EQ 676 TU 648 EX 668, utilization below 5% across 4 cards with total CL of $15480, aaoa 5yrs (7 on TU), 1 inquiry & 3 baddies all medical collections I had ignored but recently pif & reported paid-closed. No late payments on existing open accounts. 2 closed cards, 1 at my request & one by creditor Cap1 with late payment 90 days. Before applying all my cards had started life as $1k and below limited secured or starter cards with low-mid 20% aprs that had be auto & requested CLI'd a few times over the years to a max CL of $6500."

Amex approved me instantly for BCE with a $5k SL. I waited the 61 days per the 3x CLI thread and 2 weeks ago requested & approved for the full 3x bringing my card up to $15k. Hope this helps - as some people here could tell you you can count on me to provide walls and walls of data and shared experiences Smiley Happy

Re: AMEX question

@mountaindewvoltage I'm working towards the BCE as I like what offers in top of I'm at the grocery store at least 3 times a week. From what I've seen is they seem to like scores around 650 and up. So I have some work to do.

Re: AMEX question

@Bella007 thank you for this. I'm 3 months into my rebuild. Once I get a few more baddies off my reports I hope by early mid 2018 I'll be pre-approved.

Re: AMEX question

@SlightlyRemoved thank you for sharing. So AMEX pulls EX or EQ or does it depend? My others move up with no problem but EQ is a thorn in my side. Hoping in 6 months or so it finally starts moving .

Re: AMEX question

I got my BCE with a 630, 2 collections (medical), 3 other lines of credit. one line being 2 years old.

I started with a 500 SL though and normal high APR like 23%.

Once I removed the collections I was offered the PRG and platinum. I took the Gold Card.

I do have 100% payment history. A plus I think AMEX appreciates.

Re: AMEX question

Thank you!! Wow! I haven't seen 630 and getting approved. That's awesome!! I'm hoping next year I can report I've made it in even if it's just a foot in that's all I need.

Re: AMEX question

Not sure exactly (they do not seem to tell you the score they pulled) but I think I applied for my Discover IT on the same evening.  The score Discover said they pulled was Exp 665.

I had a few years of good history with Capital One Platinum when I applied.

If you spend over $70 a week at the grocery store, skip the Everyday and apply for the Blue Cash Preferred. Not sure why people even bother with the Everyday unless it's a sock drawer filler... You can get the BoA Cash Rewards and you're not limited to slow, limited cash redemption options and it's a Visa/Visa Signature.
