Re: AMEX

Yeah just because there is no prequal doesn't mean you won't get approved (if you qualify) to this day I don't get anything from Amex prequal (never have had a Amex so not blacklisted) and am sure I could get a card if I wanted one (I just find their cards to be meh for my spend)

Note: last time I got my full reports there is no record of Amex ever doing a SP on me

Re: AMEX

Never rely on prequals.  If you haven't settled with them then you're probably blacklisted.

once my scores improve after the new cli, should I give it a shot to apply??

It's never just about score.  Identify and address the issues in your reports.  While Revolving Utlization has a significant impact it is not the only thing that matters.  If you have dergos then carefully research in Rebuilding and work on addressing the ones that can be addressed.  Do not just rely on CLI's.  You can pay down balances prior to report date to manage reported Revolving Utilization.

Re: AMEX

On a whim, I applied for a Blue with a 652 and was approved.  Declined on a charge card though.  I had no Pre-Q when i tried.

I was only given a $500 limit.  Hoping that I can get that increased significantly over the next 6 months, or atleast get approved for a different card with better rewards in a few months.  I just needed an in...and Amex came through with the regular old Blue for me.  Just happy to be part of the Amex family after years of rebuliding.

As far as blacklisted...hard to tell.  My mom filed BR 6 years ago after my father passed and left her in the red financially.  She was able to get approved for a BCE last year.  I always thought a BR would blacklist you if Amex was included.  Not necessarily true though.
