@phantasm wrote:But the kicker is that CB for the Debit card is based on leveraging it as a credit card purchase 👎🏻. Not sure if other CB debit cards are like this?
Oh, that might make it fairly useless then, as a major use case would be to use it where debit cards were accepted and credit not.
@phantasm wrote:Came here to say the same. I guess I was one of the last people to get their letter. To sum up the running list of alternatives:
1. Robinhood 3% CB with Gold membership = rolling the dice on this company
2. BOA 2.625% CB = Requires 100K for platinum rewards
3. Alliant CU 2.5% CB= Requires 1K parked in an account getting 0.25% interest
4. Any number ~2-2.2% CB
I think my initial goal is to try and find ways to reduce my monthly spend on AOD to get it as close to $1500/mo as possible. This means leveraging Redstone for Costco runs and moving to pay realestate taxes and education via other methods. One area I've been intruiged with is debit card cash back. Places that charge surcharges for credit cards like taxes and education generally don't charge any fees for debit card purchases so I may be able to get the same net effect. Upgrade offers up to a 2% cash back on all debit purchases but has active account requirements. Discover is 1% on up to $3K/mo. Affinity is 1% on up to $1K/mo. Per @Anonymous PayPal business debit is uncapped 1%. Are there others that I'm missing from this list?
The AOD Card Controls have always been a mess for me. Other than getting basic information, their notification settings of the app won't even load for me. Same with their website. I've leveraged Visa's purchase notifications over the years to get some insight into spending but with the $1500 cap it's now challenging to understand my monthly spend on this card. Has anyone been able to get the notifications working with AOD app (web / native) or do you have other suggestions on how to keep tabs on the monthly spend?

Just add up your transactions from start date of new cycle and when close to $1500 move spend as assume most are bills such as electric or lawn care etc in the several hundred range and shouldn't be to tough spending a few mins adding it up when you think you might be close to hitting it. Just my humble opinion.
My plan is even easier than that. I will find on-line bills that are consistent month to month (insurances come to mind) and select a combo of those bills that comes close to $1500, set up auto pay, and file the card.
Sorry if this was already discussed. Do we know yet if the 3% is capped at the first $1500 per month, or is it per statement cycle? It seemed weird that it went into effect on 7/1, but I've been told that everyone's statement date is the 20th (I might be off by a day or two). At least that's what I was told when I called a long time ago asking if I could change my statement date.
Having it go into effect on 7/1 makes it seem like they're calculating it by calendar month. Or they wanted some runway before the July statements go out and then have it go by statement cycle thereafter.
I have this exact problem. I don't know the answer but will be able to figure it out being that in my billing cycle I approached 1500 and have already passed it this month.
I have been receiving text message updates for every purchase made on the AOD card since 2021. It's almost immediate after I make a purchase. The sender is 66368. I have no idea how I signed up.

I also wish to know the cap/reset cycle.
Because they were paying out 3% until the change, looking at current reward numbers
and spend won't tell you the reset cycle. If you go over before statement you will/should hit the cap,
if not you will see 3%.
It will require a spreed sheet and another month or two for an answer.
I might just make a set of charges on certain dates to help figure it out.
To be safe and not knowing is about a 3 week window.
I want to know the answer
If anyone get info that seems trustworthy, please post.

It actually doesn't really matter. I just set up approximately $1500 worth of auto pay monthly bills, and I'm done. I filed the card away. Whatever the cycle is, if you spend ~$1500 every 30 days, you are fine. You'll maximize earning 3% while minimizing/eliminating earning 1%.

It doesn't matter if that is your spending use case, but it obviously does matter in other cases, e.g. if I have two ~ $1,500 purchases to make. Do I make them 31st Jul and 1st of August, or either side of the statement closing date?
(In another sense it doesn't REALLY matter as the difference on 3%vs 1% on $1,500 is only $10 but this is MyFico!)
