AU capital one

My wife and i have been thinking about adding me as a AU to her capital one credit card.  Do they back date? she maxed out the credit card 2 years ago and has been paying off the minnimum balance and the balanced has been the same has not gone down so we decided to pay it all off. If she does add me as a AU will that be reported? that the card has been maxed out. she has also gone over her limit by $3.00. if it is paid off will it look bad when they repot on my report?

Re: AU capital one

Yes if she adds you, they will see the history of the CC on your report. Probbaly not a good idea if she has had it maxed out. Whats the ballance now & how old is the account?

Re: AU capital one

the account is over 3 years old. i want the age of the account.  the balance right now is 3,253 but it will be paid off by the end of the month.

Re: AU capital one

You will inherit the entire history of the account if you are added as an AU. As long as there are no lates on the account (30 days+) then the balance history is no problem. Even if the highest balance is over the current credit line that is no cause for concern. Credit lines are adjusted all the time both by the issuing company and the creditors request. If the account has a clean history and is older than your current accounts there is no real downside to being added as an AU. Especially if the balance is being PIF.

I don't think it will be done automatically. You can dispute it with the CRAs by telling them that it's not your account, which it isnt
