Hey guys I have an Apple Rewards VISA card with Barclays and my CL is $1000, currently have a $400 balance. I am in a DMP program and intend to pay off all my balanced by the end of this month. One of the catches of a DMP is that you do not apply for new credit which I dont (even though I have 9 hard inquires O.o). My question is can I safely request a CLI with Barclay, I have been with them over 2 years now and mostly pay in full each month or pay 2-3 times a month. Will they hard pull or should I wait until I pay the 2 cards in the DMP and request a CLI in May. I just want to raise the limit to drop my utilization and intend to buy a macbook after paying these 2 cards off.
2nd question if your answer to the first is wait. Should I do a CLI request with Barclay or apply for a new credit card with a major CCC.
My scores are
EQ 678
EX 653
TU 653
Total credit utilization is 33%.
Freecreditreport.com says my EX is 695 ^^. This scoring thing is confusing.
I'm pretty sure they soft. I apped for a CLI in February and they quoted my score from early December, which was a significant amount of points lower. There is no hard INQ from them in my reports, so I'm sure they review reguarly.
I can't apply for new credit until I am out of the DMP. Any1 else care to chime in about whether its hard or soft?

OK, reality check: you said that all your balances will be paid off by the end of the month.
Does that mean that you'll be out of the DMP and will have satisfied its requirements as of April 30, or May 1 or whatever?
If so, why on earth would you jeopardize things now going for a CLI? Seriously, can that not wait for 16 more days?
My apologies if I misunderstood your situation.

I am thinking the same clarifyling question.
Barclay has always been a HP from my understanding and if you somehow got them before the DMP and managed to keep that account out of your DMP and they pull and see it, they are very likely to close the account... although not sure during a regular monitor check of your account they would not have seen the DMP and closed you so who knows... I think we need some more info.
1. When did you start DMP and when are you done?
2. What accounts are in and what accounts are out, and balances on those?
Back in January I went and hit the LUV button online with my iTunes Rewards Visa, and the CLI was instantly approved. I had to call up for something and I asked the CSR if it was a hard pull or soft pull, and I was told that since the system instantly approved me online that it would be a soft pull...... Of course the CSR was wrong, and it really ended up being a hard pull on my CR.
So I would just wait a month so that you don't screw up your Debt Management Plan.
(edited to fix a typo)

+1
If it is such a short wait to get out of the DMP, why jeopardize this? Secondly, Barclays always HPs for CLI. Always. I'm surprised that they haven't already AA'd you because of the DMP. Play it safe and wait it out. JMHO
They didn't HP my CLI recently. Guess y'all got shafted.
