I am hoping someone can shed some light for me regarding the GM Rewards Card by Marcus/Goldman Sachs. I am approved via soft pull (application is much like the Apple Card); however, I was only offered a credit line of $1,500 w/ 18.49% after 12 months at 0%. Before I accept or decline - I'm reaching out for some honest reviews on this card. I've read good and bad (honestly more bad than good) but I trust you folks a lot more than a quick google search.
Pros? Cons? Are CLI's possible online like the Apple Card? Can I build this credit line over time without hard pulls? Looking for all the deets before I pull the trigger or shut the door on this card.
Any information is appreciated- good or bad! Many thanks!
I have the new GM card by Marcus/GS but they started my CL at $10K. To me it's just an average credit card. Not really any bad or good just a card. I got it because I drive Chevys and can use the points and discounts there. Other than that nothing special about it. As to CLI is nothing like Apple. Matter of fact right now at least for the time being hey don't even allow CLI. They've said they may down the road but I wouldn't count on it being every 91 days like the Apple Card as these are two very different products.
I do not have anything negative to say about the card. Very upfront and easy to manage payments, etc. I have a different experience because when I got this card almost 7 years ago it was a Capital One GM Rewards card. I racked up some reward points since then and because I ended up buying a non-GM Jeep I cashed it in for target gift cards!
As far as being a card that will grow...I was told they do not give out CLI's period. I could have a different experience since mine transitioned from Cap1 but this is what they told me when I requested one through the chat. I had a SL of $500 when it was a Cap1 card and got an auto-cli to $750. And it has been at $750 for almost a decade now lol. I keep it around because it's like an old friend now.
I've had issues with them double and triple reporting. So you can never know what balance will be reported. They also told me at the present time they do not offer CLI but will in the future. When that is I have no clue and is anyone's guess.
What makes them think any significant number of people would have interest in the card if they don't do any CLIs? When I did the preapproval about 2 months ago it was for $2000 (I declined as I have little use for the card currently), but probably wouldn't have even wasted my time if I knew about no CLI.
No complaints, 4% back on everything, 7% on car stuff, and a free $100 if I spend $1,500 in gas annually. What's more to love? Lol. The app and website are straightforward. Only complaint is their temporary pause on CLIs. I use the card for nearly everything.

Actually most people in the "real world" don't know/care about CLIs. We here on MyFICO are in the minority.

You must have gotten the good card. I got the bad one - only 4x pts redeemable only for GM stuff and 7x pts when paying for GM stuff. No benefit anywhere else in the universe. Junk WEMC benefits as well.

I'm sure we're referring to the same card. I said 7% on car stuff because my car stuff like maintenance is done at authorized gm retailers (making it 7%). I too can only redeem for pretty much only GM stuff, but I don't mind since I can redeem them for a car, etc. If it doesn't work for you, then I suggest you stop using it if you are.
Whoosh! Thanks for the sage advice.
