Re: Advice for an APP

Nothing on the pre Qual sites...i have a single 30 day late about 18 months ago....it was an oversight....also, my limits on the three cards i have are 500, 1300, and 1800.  I am also an AU on my wife's Chase Freedom of 3500.00  The other option i have is wait another 6 months and try to get my three cards CLI before i app... any more thoughts?

Aim high! I was recently approved for Chase Freedom with $3k and Amex Gold Delta with $5k with mid-600 scores (all 3). When I was approved for Discover (didn't think I would be) a couple of years ago, score were similar and baddies were 2-3 years old. I think you probably have a good chance, but as always YMMV.

Current Score (11/2020): EQ: 753 | TU: 731 | EX: 749---Starting Score (3/2010): EQ: 522 | TU: 525 | EX: 520---Goal: All 3 FICO 800+

Re: Advice for an APP

I would apply:

Chase

Discover

American Express

and pick 3 and just go one to the next without stopping regardless of what the first or the second says because the 3rd might be completely different!

Re: Advice for an APP

Great advice.  I was shopping with my wife and applied for a JC Penny store card to save the 20%.  I was approved for only 800.00.  I came home and applied for Chase Freedom, Discover IT, and AMEX Blue....approved for Discover IT....7-10 note on the Chase...denied for AMEX......called Discover IT and they said congrats, your live is 5K (largest line yet), called Chase and they said I was denied---asked for recon and after a few minutes they came back and said they will approve for 1500.  Haven't called AMEX yet....  thanks everybody

Congrats on the new cards and successful recon! Not to put a damper on your day, but from what I understand Amex rarely does recons.

Congratulations! I'm just about to apply for Chase Freedom with year-old baddies; it's good to see your success.
