I think about 10 days ago...I pulled the trigger and applied for AMEX BCP and was APPROVED to my serious shock!! $2k CL, but I was IN when I thought I would be old and gray before I'd ever be considered for an American Express. Wow!
My confidence pushed me a couple of days later to see what else I could do...applied for Venture [since I have the existing Cap1 relationship] and Chase Freedom. Got the "application pending..." messages on both. Read up on follow-ups and recon, made a couple of phone calls to Chase and Cap1 -- two more approvals!! THREE FOR THREE!!! Shut the front door!
So here's my latest portfolio:
Synchrony//CarCare1: $1100
Synchrony//Rooms to Go: $3200
Kohl's//$700
Capital One//Platinum MC: $300 [secured] -- Definitely need to do something with this one, but it's my oldest revolving account...
Capital One//QuickSilver One: $4300
AMEX//Blue Cash Preferred: $2000
Chase//Freedom: $4500
Capital One//Venture: [CL unknown]
I took the plunge and requested the 3X CLI on my AMEX when I activated it, but it went under review. I don't have high expectations for it, but I thought I'd give it a whirl. I'm OK waiting until Day 61. Overall, I am THRILLED to see this trend!! I'm SO grateful to the immense amount of information shared on these boards.
Now I'm overwhelmed where to go next. Should I put the apps on hold and concentrate on CLIs? Should I shoot for another prime before gardening? I thought about trying for Lowe's since a) we're new homeowners and b) the SP CLI is enticing.
I'd also be open to any advice on what to do with that secured Cap1. ![]()

I personally would focus on the CLI. SPs if possible. About a year ago my highest limit was $600 with First Premier.
Just a few minutes ago.. my AMEX got CLI to $23K. Just a few days ago NASA credit union approved me for $20K+.
When I receive my NASA card and the new limits report I will begin the process of eliminating low credit line cards. Then my focus will be to APP for $20K limits.
^ agreed.
I'd probably close a few of the AF cards that you will no longer be using (don't worry, they still report on your Credit report for 10 years).
