All set for another rejection

I applied for a Citi card, again, rewards, got the usual "this requires more processing" i.e. we gotta come up with some reasons to reject it. My balance on the crapital one on the date they reported was 20 bucks, though I pay in full within a couple of days of charging anything on it, so this time Citi can't say "our policy is you must carry a balance on a credit card" they'll have to manufacture another excuse. When they do, I'll post it here, it should be good for a laugh.

I mean I have NO ZERO ZIP NADA doubt it will be declined. It's just what creative reason they come up with. I should save these somewhere and post a 'best of" for rejection reasons! Your amount owed was not divisible by zero and not a prime number or a multiple of pi.....

Re: All set for another rejection

I've noticed the same thing lately.  I apped back in July and got the too many recent inquiries.  I was like oh really.. thank you Citi because you were the only inquiry on the report.

Their systems are fickle.  Last year I app'd for the AA visa in October and was given a line of something.. appd 60 days later and was given 6,000.  Makes no sense at all with them.

I myself have been eyeing one of their 21 month BT / zero percent cards and can't bring myself to take the inquiry hit for a manufactured denial.

"our policy is you must carry a balance on a credit card"

The reason Citi gave you this excuse is because having no balance on any of your credit card means no credit activity. No credit activity = no credit assessment can be done.

Actually the card DID have activity, however the balance showed as 0 because I paid it in full before it reported.

So to say that it has no activity is simply not true, that only means that on the day they reported your balance it was 0.

Just the fact that you have used the card, which the can verify, and that it has no balance, that alone SHOULD logically tell them hey this dude didn't rush out and borrow a bunch of money he can't pay back and is planning to default on, but these people do NOT in any way shape or form think along those lines, no, quite the contrary ANYTHING you do including nothing at all means you are the greatest menace to credit on the planet. I bet they get a papercut and scream for 911 or they'll bleed to death. Hey, better safe than sorry!

Yeah, I think I'd figure I was imagining things if I saw that. I wouldn't believe it. Congrats to you!

Re: All set for another rejection

You know, I don't want a bunch of these things, I really don't even like them much. I'd just like to have ONE I could actually use unlike Crapital One which keeps you at 500 bucks for the rest of your life. I'd drop them like a hot potato if I got a decent one, but that's impossible so Crapital One it will be, even as lame as they are.

Re: All set for another rejection

Actually, credit scoring model considers $0 balance as no activity. It does not matter what you think, but from credit scoring perspective, it is no activity.
