Amazon Prime Vs Amazon with card.

Hey yall! I was just approved for the Amazon card yesterday, $1,800 limit. I currently am in a 30 day trial with Amazon Prime. I've never purchased Prime before and wouldn't really want to I don't think. Unless there's some significant benefits with now having the credit card. I know I get 5% back, but is that only if I have Prime? Also since they're sending me the Prime card because I'm signed up for the 30 day membership, if I don't keep the Prime, will they send me a different credit card too? Or will they wait till the end of the year or something? Thank you :-)

The 5% is only for Prime members. I'm sure they know when your Prime trial is over and report it to Synchrony so that they send you a new card. For me Prime is worth it because of the discounts in shipping alone.

It might not happen the exact day your trial expires, but I'm fairly sure as well that Synchrony won't continue to give you 5% off your Amazon purchases without an active Prime subscription.

I'm with Jace, though... I don't even have the Synchrony card (yet) and Amazon Prime is still worth it, at least to me.  If you have minimal Amazon purchases I can see how it might not be necessary, though.

Prime is freakin' awesome. Had it since almost the beginning and like above, the shipping savings alone it's worth it.

I don't have the hour delivery in my area since I'm more in the country but that would be freakin' awesome.

Re: Amazon Prime Vs Amazon with card.

Prime is worth it for shipping alone, I definitely agree.  If you can use anything else they offer with Prime, it makes it that much more worth it (Prime Movies, Music, etc etc etc).

If you do any amount of shopping on Amazon at all, it's worth it.  Particularly around the holidays if you're a holiday shopper --- I don't know how many times I've had Amazon send a gift to someone for me because I'm lazy, hahaha.

And as an added note, imo, Amazon has the best customer service bar none. Need to return something, UPS comes right to your door. If the item cost little don't even have to return it and you get money back.

I've done this more than once... and it works like a charm!  It's especially nice since most of my relatives live in areas that haven't started charging sales tax for Amazon orders (yet) and that saves me even a little more... LOL.

I'm not trying to be antagonistic, but I don't know why someone would apply for the Amazon store card if they didn't have (or were planning on) significant Amazon purchases.  And it would follow that having significant purchases would justify having Prime.

If the purchase level is not enough to justify Prime, perhaps the Amazon Visa (Chase) with 3% off Amazon purchases (Prime not required) would be a better option.  That's just my own opinion, though...
