Amazon Prime renewal

My yearly Prime subscription is about to renew. If I use my Amazon store card to pay for it will I receive 5% cash back or should I use another credit card to pay for it.

Re: Amazon Prime renewal

Can't say for sure, but I know you can't use your gift card balance...unless you do a work around: use your gift card balance (which you bought at 5% off) to buy a "gift of prime" and redeem that prime membership for yourself.

You can probably get an answer from Amazon online customer service pretty quickly regarding if the direct renewal will earn 5% or not. I've never had a long wait.

Re: Amazon Prime renewal

I don’t see why it wouldn’t get 5% off, it’s a purchase on Amazon and the Chase card does.

We previously determined that you do earn 5% cash back with the Amazon Visa, and I would think that it would be the same with the Amazon Prime Store card (which is your question here).  Hopefully someone with the Prime Store card will come along and be able to tell us definitively.

Yes it definitely does earn the 5%. I've done it the past 3 or 4 years now.

I somehow doubt that the BCP will do it for the membership vs just the video component.

AFAIK there isn't just a way to sign up for amazon prime video only, so you think it will be 6% off the charges you pay for each (non-free) video?

Nah you can get Prime Video alone.

If you choose to be charged on a monthly basis, your membership charge will be $12.99. If you choose to be charged on an annual basis, you will be charged $119. Prime Video membership is $8.99 a month.”

I seem to remember a card that specifically says that only Prime Video counts and not the full Prime membership but I can’t remember which card it was to look it up.

Re: Amazon Prime renewal

This is an old thread, but I can confirm that I just renewed my Amazon Prime membership this month with my BCP and only received 1% cash back. Lesson learned.
