Amegy Reserve card

Amegy (and other Zion entities I presume) has three levels of higher end travel cards.

-Premier

-Elite

-Reserve

The Reserve is the one i'm interested in.

Barring the bonus, I am still attracted to the card.

The spend is doable and the AF is an easy pay with the Travel Credits.

**bleep** good looking card as well!

The big rubber stamp is the 2% cash on non category spend.

This could pry my daily spend away from the CSR

Anyone else want to chime in....?

  • Get $500 or 50,000 points when you spend $5,000 within the first 90 days2
  • Earn 3% cash or 3X points on all Travel & Dining purchases5
  • Earn 2% cash or 2X points on everything else5
  • $250 annual travel credit3
  • No blackout dates or restrictions on redemption
  • Complimentary Priority Pass Select Lounge Access4
  • $450 Annual Fee; $50 for each additional user

Opt to earn cash back, or choose points and repay yourself for any purchases made in the last

Re: Amegy Reserve card

How do you like the one that you were approved for last year? I was interested in them but they appear to be (TX) geo-restricted (unless I overlooked something).

But, yeah those are pretty decent offerings, especially the Reserve tier 😜

Oh, and congrats on the biz version approval btw!

@Finstar

Amegy is my new second wife for now😂

I’m having to get creative to satisfy my hobby.

Amegy is part of Zion Bancorp which has entities by different names throughout the west.

Most have essentially the Same products with slightly different names.

I think i’m Going to give this a couple of months and then go for it

Re: Amegy Reserve card

The card looks very blah and expensive for having a $450 annual fee. I suppose if the bonus is the deciding reason It would be okay for a year.

Compared to Citi's Double Cash card at 2% for $0 AF. You are basically paying $200 a year for an extra precent on travel/dining spend. That's $20,000 in travel/dining just to offset the annual fee 😮

There's Penfed that pays YOU a $100 a year to have the card, which earns 3X on travel.

Plenty of other card options out there that don't have a $200 net annual fee and offer the same rewards as this card.......

Out of curiousity what exactly interests you in this card ??

Re: Amegy Reserve card

The points are just equivalent to cash back, right?  No transfer or anything?

If so, not that sure of the attraction!  Two cards, such as a free 2% and the Uber will give everything but lounge access at $200 less.  (Well, looks like there is an annual bonus as well).   And the CSR+CFU gives similar or better functionality (when UR redeemed for travel) at a lower cost.   What am I missing?

ETA: shadowfactor beat me to it!

You are correct on the transfer partner options being a huge mark in favor of the CSR. However the Trifecta doesn’t apply to me anymore. Neither DW or myself are eligible for Freedom or FU because of 5/24

Nowadays, I have so many cards that I simply use the card that I utilize as my FOTM.

interesting to hear everone’s Evaluation of this card though

Re: Amegy Reserve card

OP:  couldn't help noticing from your signature that you have the FNBO Travelite card.  Since the Travelite also has 3% cashback on travel purchases plus the annual $100 travel incidentals credit, all with no AF, couldn't you still potentially come out ahead with the Travelite, without having to app for the Amegy Reserve card?  Granted, the Travelite card doesn't come with the complimentary lounge access feature and provides 1.5% on all other non-travel purchases vs. the Amegy's 2% on all other purchases, but with the Amegy's AF minus the $250 travel credit, wouldn't the Amegy's AF eat into the 2% cashback on other purchases that you'd be getting anyway regardless, etc.?

Between my wife and I we have almost 50 cards. We could go insane trying to maximize rewards between all of our cards.

i could just use a no AF 2% card for everything and probably be just as even with a lot less headaches.

I’m at a point in my life where the AF is not a deal breaker.
