My boyfriend recently just added me as an AU to his American Express account. He has been a Member since 2005. However My Member Date is appearing as March 2013 for me.
Is there anyway to have my American Express to report a Member Since date of 2005, if yes, what are the steps to do so?
Has he closed any AMEX accounts in the past ?

Their standard policy is to backdate AU's to the year they were added as an AU. Pretty good deal still.
No he has not closed any AMEX accounts. It has been open and active with a limit of $35,000k
Pretty much if you ever open up your own AMEX in 2020 it would say member since 2013

Pretty impressive limit which cards does he have?
Honestly I do not know which card it is.
He saw me struggling to rebuild and "GET" some credit so he added me as an AU to his Amex 35k and Citi 15k but I told him that I did not want access to those cards. I mean adding me was such an amazing gesture and such a help I, in no way, want to do ANYTHING to mess with his PERFECT 800 credit score so I told him when the cards came to just cut them up and keep paying his bills on time like he has been.
I was just hoping that there was a way or some members have had some luck with having their AMEX AU accounts back dated as of present I have NO OTHER credit history...no good and no bad...
Well his payment history will def show on your CR but as far as member date will be 2013 but the payment history and credit limit will report which is good for you. That is VERY nice of him but you didn't have to cut the cards lmao. AMEX charges for AUs I have my GF on my high limit cards I just SD the spare cards.
It is important to note even though you are an AU some creditors do not consider AUs I would see if you can get a good builder card from Discover or Credit Union..
If not try Capital One you might even be able to get a Chase right out of the gate after 6 months or so
I figured if I had him cut up the cards..it would offer him a bit more piece of mind since it is 'his' credit I am piggybacking on. This will be such a huge help for me that I just wanted him to feel as safe as possible about offering me this help.
