American Express EMV Chip For Most Cards

Hey guys,

Although, I've never posted anything I've been following this forum for quite some time. I just would like to say THANK YOU for all of the wonderful information you've provided me with which has assisted me with improving my credit scores.

I haven't seen this information posted anywhere in the forum yet so I decided to share. American Express has extended the "Chip and Signature" technology to more of their personal, business, and corporate card holders.  I've recently called to request an EMV chip for my AMEX PR Gold card and the gentleman confirmed that they were available by request.  My new card arrived the very next day!

I know that there are mixed feelings about the "Chip and Signature" technology vs. the "Chip and Pin", but even if you do not plan on traveling to Europe or Canada anytime soon, for the $175 AF you should take advantage of all incentives offered.  Not to mention it looks pretty cool Smiley Happy

Good luck!

Re: AMEX PR Gold EMV Chip!

Hey Yudeology101,

Unfortunately, I do not know which cards are eligible.  Knowing AMEX, they will conceal this information for as long as they can to save on the addtional cost of adding millions of chips. Best we can do is call and ask.

Hope this helps!

Re: AMEX PR Gold EMV Chip!

Congrats!

My conversation lasted for about 2 minutes tops. Sorry you had to go through addtional reps.

I'm assuming the request was for the AMEX Platinum Delta in your sig? If so, that's awesome!

Re: AMEX PR Gold EMV Chip!

Sorry for the confusion all, I haven't updated my signature, but it "was not" for the platinum delta amex, but for the Platinum Charge Card.

Re: AMEX PR Gold EMV Chip!

Also available on the regular Gold card.  Just finished up an on-line chat with an AMEX rep, ordered my new replacement card.  Took all of 5 minutes.
