Personally I'll take a 1K Amex over 60k capital one but that's just me

I'll take the 60k line thank you. Smiley Happy

Actually, I don't need 60k line.  More juicy cards out there.  Didn't even want 10k line (debating what to do with that one).  Am in boat rather have a line with Amex, than 60k capital one (and I have cap one).

Tough call here... I wouldn't tell Amex personally to go pound sound persay as one day you might need them and you will will go through a FR when applying again if you ever do or income/tax verification, not necessary a FR.   I guess I would personally just submit the form, but as been beaten to death here, people have privacy concerns..  On the flip side I honestly really don't like Cap1 what-so-ever being their CS other then the EO I dread dealing with regular CS, but at the same time have never had a CLD from Cap1 even through the nastiest of times or any balance chasing etc (granted I use to always be maxed, so nothing they use to be able to chase)...I guess I just see Cap1's most recent generosity as a pig with lipstick on although they have been through some very nasty times with me..  So have mixed emotions

Re: American Express F/R

So much gloom and doom in this thread. geez. i would just tell amex which part of hell to go and i will see them in the future. 1 card and FR. i see the other lines are great. but for 3k. no way. I would cross the bridge in the future when it came. otherwise. it really would not be important at this stage. But in my case. losing a whopping 10k. would hurt a little. but not so bad that i can't recover. 3x cli time tomorrow. i don't want a FR. No!!!!Smiley Sad

Re: American Express F/R

I agree with taxi818.  It would be a different story if there was more at stake here.  In my case, Amex is giving me quite a bit of history with a backdate and a nice credit line as well.  Therefore, I'm sure I would comply if they hit me with an FR.  But in the case of a new account for only $3K, I don't see the big incentive here unless you really really want to be "in with Amex" and stay in with them.

On a side note OP, congrats on your new $60K Quicksilver line!  WOW!! Smiley Surprised

For Capital One to approve a $60,000.00 credit line you must be making some GOOOOooood money.

You should be proud of your high salary and let AMEX see it.

At anytime, Capital One or Citi may ask for your TAX return in order to approve your Loan etc..

Sorry there's no privacy here.

I don't know if you own a home or not but, No bank or loan Company will give you a Mortgage loan without seeing your TAX return.

He reported his income as $78K.  Makes CapOne's  decision to give him a $60K CL seem perplexing.  Not sure that  says a whole lot about their financial decision making but that is a fantastic CL

Re: American Express F/R

i got 2 amex cards.  delta and everyday.  both cards aquired in the last 5 months.  both have a zero balance and if they ever wanted to do a FR on me, i would kindly decline and let them close the accounts.   everything i have is joint with my wife, tax, bank, everything.     after several id theft issues i have privacy concerns just like many others.  even if i would agree, there is no way in hell  my wife agree to let amex probe into our finances.   if they fail to believe i make an astronomical (sarcasm) 60k per year, then thats their problem.  heck with'em!

i dont blame you for closing.  i'd do the same without hesitation.

Re: American Express F/R

Also if people would stop getting greedy and requesting obscene credit limits as soon as they activate their cards it would bring less attention on themselves.

99.9% of the time I side with the company asking for the 4506-T, but I was going to say the exact same thing in this case. They give you a relatively tiny SL, and then to add insult to injury slap you with a FR after you charge a whopping 30 bucks on the card. To me, that's almost the equivalent of them saying, "We don't want your business"... Like sitting down at a run-of-the-mill restaurant, and the waiter refusing to bring you a menu until they can first see that you have the money to pay for your meal... Or walking into a Toyota dealership and asking for a test drive on a Camry, and them refusing unless they run your credit first... It's like, "Uh you're really going to have to take my word for it that I can pay back $3K, or you can **** off."

Edit: Also there's absolutely nothing special about Amex anymore The only people who are impressed by them are people who don't know any better or have beyond terrible credit. Amex gives middle class schmoes with 670 ficos (ie, like me) BCP's and PRG's. Between all of my cards, if I had to choose, my Amex cards would be one of the first on the chopping block, even before my toy limit BoA card which I can't get a CLI to save my life on. At least BoA offers other products I may have use for in the future, so that relationship is important.
