I have paid off my debt (1600$) and I am looking to regain membership back with American Express. So, in June (4-6), they sent me a form to fill out for the optima card and they have received it (as indicated by USPS) June 20th. It's almost a month and I hadn't heard anything. I have been reading previous stories where they'd have received their cards in a week or two later. I called and there is no indication that I am in the system. Is this normal? What should I do?
thanks in advance !!!
Was just talking about AMEX on another post. This is more reason I wouldn't change my mind about paying them some dubious balance. This is AMEX BS'ing as usual, bunch of shady people. They try to get $$ out of your pocket via any means possible. I also received that Optima card offer but I'm still double minded about it. What CA handled your account and did u try to get in touch with them yet? I think u might be able to check the status of that Optima app via the regular AMEX app status link but I'm not sure tho. I'm interested in your post and wanna see the final outcome. Good luck and I hope everything works out.

It's literally a "pulling teeth" battle. I've spoken with the people who handled my debt claim . I was then given the "general" 1800 to contact American Express customer service. Those guys only saw where I applied to another card recently and not the Optima. I will be calling tomorrow to see if I can get another application, etc. I'll probably end up raising hell because what's the point of doing the right thing if it's so difficult for "basic" communication. I'll keep you posted.
I can imagine your pain. Quick question did u check the AMEX app status link? There might be something there for u, I think I read other post on here from posters who checked their status using that. But either ways just take it easy, I'm sure they won't do anything shady with u... pls do keep me posted cos from ur experience amongst other factors I'll be able to gauge if there might be room for me to change my mind about paying that balance

It would only be "dubious" if you weren't responsible for the debt. They are simply asking you to pay it (plus any fees you agreed to pay when you authorized the opening of the account) as would anyone who is owed money. In the end, you don't have to pay them a dime. But, don't expect them to open their doors for you either.
As for the OP, it sounds like your application was "lost". Or, the CA acting on Amex's behalf have not relayed the account has been paid yet as Amex won't issue the card until the paid debt is verified.
Have you called the Oasis number? This number is listed for it: 888-232-3261.

Exactly! I wasn't responsible for the charges hence I shouldn't have to be made to pay it. I would expect any other company to investigate and resolve the charges accordingly. Not sticking it to my face to pay for something that wasn't done by me. What's the $0 fraud liability meant for? Anyways you damn right I don't have to pay them a dime - it's at my discretion but if you were in my shoes I'm sure u would relate with my frustration. Oh well Unless u have that much $$$ sitting in the bank that u can pay whatever that's thrown at u, then I would understand. But for me, for every $$$ I spend there has to be a justification for it... Thank you

In that case, I agree with you. Ya see, I did throw out the possibility of fraud and not jump to conclusions. I know you mentioned you had an Amex thread, but I have not come across it as of yet... sounds like a good read.
If Amex hasn't treated you right, and they made you liable for fraudulent charges, why would you want to open up another card with them?

Also, you mentioned what's the point in doing the "right thing" if its so difficult for them to have basic communication with you? Just as you "dont have to pay them a dime" You need to remember that they don't owe you anything either. Whether or not your alleged fraudulent charges were valid or not, for whatever reason they seem to feel you are a risk. Instead of calling to "Raise Hell" you should try to be as nice and polite as possible and you might have a little better luck.
