Has anyone used the AmEx Preferred Seating benefit? If so:
1. what card did you use to access the benefit?
2. what card did you use to pay for the ticket?
3. did you think the seats were significantly better than you would have been able to obtain otherwise?
Despite what other websites say, according to the AmEx pop-up at Ticketmaster, AmEx Gold is the lowest currently available AF card that is supposed to be able to access this benefit. However, it seems that one might be able to access, use and pay with other cards. AmEx charge cards don't appeal to me, but with events being allowed again, this benefit might be a compelling reason for me to get a gold card. Any actual experience with this benefit?
I haven't used any of it, but it seems that not only charge cards are eligible for this benefit if you don't like charge cards. I seldom scroll through it, but everything I see doesn't appeal to me. I was looking into some theaters during theater week here in NYC, but couldn't find anything on Amex Experiences.
@jcooks That is almost the list I was refering to. What is interesting about your list is that it includes the $95 Hilton Surpass card. I assume you got this list directly from the American Express site? Below is a screen shot of the "See if your card is elligible" link at the Ticketmaster site - AmEx section. Notice Surpass is not included in this list. I wonder which is correct. Anyway, assuming the Ticketmaster list is correct, notice Gold (along with Delta Platinum) is the lowest AF eligible currently available AmEx, which is why I mentioned charge cards. What I really wonder is if anyone at AmEx or TM would care, or would any AmEx card actually work?
That is directly from Amex website

Rarely is the seating any better than you can get at any Presale through Ticketmaster. I used it and my Platinum card for Garth Brooks tickets this Summer and the seats are good but not any better than I could have gotten with AmEx. The best tickets I ever got weren't through AmEx (even though I used it to pay) but were Ticketmaster Gold Circle tickets to the Eagles and were front row center stage. They were literally 4' away from us and YES they were super expensive lol both absolutely worth it.

Well, not sure "care" is the right word, but as with any of their benefits, I'm sure that they have code to ensure that the right "level" of card (as in say AF) is used to get the benefit. Any dilution, by giving the same benefit to cheaper or free card, potentially reduces the attractiveness of the more expensive cards.
And that applies even if the "benefit" really isn't that valuable, you still want to protect it!
