American Express question

Really random question here I've been curious about. Does American Express and other lenders who offer a welcome bonus like spend $2,000 in first 6 months get $200 back, do they take into account if you've met your welcome bonus for future applications or do they judge you for that?

thanks!

Re: American Express question

If you mean that you did NOT hit the bonus, no they certainly wouldn't frown on that. And if you DO hit the bonus, typically they won't withhold future SUBs unless you appear to be churning (opening and closing cards too quickly).

Re: American Express question

Amex will take into account the number of Welcome Offers you have received to determine eligibility on a new card (and you will receive a popup asking if you wish to continue if they determine they will not offer the bonus), but as for whether you have met the spend or failed to do so previously, that shouldn't affect approval chances.
