Amex 5 month CLI email question

My mom received the 'get an increase in 5 months' email if she has a balance. I have 2 questions regarding this.
1. Would a balance transfer work for this? I assume so, since it said balance and not transactions.
2. Does this nullify the 3x CLI at 61 days?

I know this is from April but i figure I'll post my question here and answer the op's since they are related.

Back in March, i was approved for amex bce with $500 SL. I didnt notice that i received this same email, until about a week ago. I did in fact request and receive a 3x cli @ 6 weeks, after my 2nd statement cut, and was approved.

My question is, do you guys think i will still receive that auto cli that was mentioned in the email on top of the 3x??

Fluguy- probably not, DH got the same terms and it stated CLI would be received after 5 statements if one hadn't been granted prior.  DH is almost at 61 days, so hopefully he can get the 3x and get rolling!
