Opened an American Express Blue Cash Everyday card a few years ago. Initial limit was $8000. I requested and increase about a year ago and got my requested amount ($12,000). Today I figured why not request another increase and was again approved for my requested amount ($15,000).
Being auto approved for my full requested amount twice in a row now has me wondering if I should have requested a higher amount once or both times. Obviously I can't request again for 6 months, but is there a limit on this card?
I found a ten year old post that claimed you could get up to $25k limit through the automated system, and beyond that they really dove into your finances. Still accurate?
You can get as much as Amex is willing to extend you through automated means alone. In many cases Amex has enough information about your ability to pay to not need additional information, but there is no set amount where they will ask for documentation and some people are never asked. There is no cap on Amex revolving limits. If you have the means, they'll extend you a $20,000,000 revolving credit line. That $25k post is no more accurate today than it was 10 years ago.

My impression (and it's just an impression) is that you can go up to $34k pretty smoothly, and that after that they sometimes look for documentation proving income, etc.
As a data point, I have a BCE at $35k even, with no POI.
At one point about 7 or so years ago I had mine up to $39k with no POI--before I had to use it as a donor to either open or enhance the CL on my business revolvers.
I believe it largely depends on your salary and your spend.
I am currently at 45k with my BCE and even though they have yet to check my finances (knock on wood), I've been denied a CLI for the past two-three attempts. I almost guarantee that I'm at my max CL due to my spend/salary on that card so no more poking the bear.
When I applied for my 3x CLI on the BCP (initial CL was 15k), they gave me 35k, and told me if I wanted the other 15k to submit 3 months of bank statements. I submitted and a week later, they gave me the other 15k
im at 18k my next request is in july not going to ask for 3x might see if they will let me go to 30k i make 85k stay tuned

Basically this. Some people will get reviewed if they try to go past $25k while others will get $35k starting limits with no questions asked. There is no one-limit-fits-all.

If you ask for 3x and you qualify for a CLI, but don't qualify for the full 3x, they would simply counteroffer less. But if you don't try going for 3x, you might "leave some on the table" so to speak.
