I f you open a new account you can ask for a increase on day 61 after your approval, after that is every 6 months

Important the amex x3 only works up to $24,000 depending on your internal score, after 25K your at risk of a FR (Finacial Review).

@If it's your 1st card you can hti the CLI @ 61 days

It's 6 months from the last approved CLI

The old 24K thing is not in existence and certainly isn't a FR.  A FR is much more intensive in documentation and questions than a 4506 increae which seems to be within the first year or so somewhere around #34.5K before asking for the POI.  Older accounts go well into the 50-75K range without being pressed for POI because they have longer transactional history built with AMEX.

Big '+1' to this.  ^^^^

If a CLI request prompts a 4506-T for income verification, it's voluntary and can be safely ignored (you just don't get your CLI).  You can also try lowering the amount of your request to see if the verification request goes away.

On the other hand, with a FR - which also usually involves a 4506-T - your accounts are frozen (generally all of them), and it's mandatory - if you refuse to comply, they close your accounts (again, generally all of them).

To further 'clear the air', Amex can do an FR on anybody at any time - regardless of your credit limit - if they suspect something is wrong.  There's no automatic cutoff that prompts it.

Re: Amex CLI every 6 months?

Here's a data point from my AMEX BCP:

2/2016, opened with SL $10K
5/2016, CLI to $20K
11/2016, CLI to $50K

No POI, no FR (yet Smiley Happy ).

Fico 8 Scores
7/2020: EQ - 842; TU - 832; EX - 848
10/2017: EQ - 823; TU - 835; EX - 824
05/2016: EQ - 712; TU - 706; EX - 710
11/2015: EQ - 694; TU - 651; EX - 653
5/2015: EQ - 670
5/2014: EQ - 653
11/2013: EQ - 645
05/2013: EQ - 656
11/2012: EQ - 646

Eight CCs ($179,500 CL, 0%-1% UTIL)
AoOA = 18.6 years, AAoA = 60 mos., AoYA = 18 mos.
One mortgage, one HELOC, no car loans.
Derogs from 2009 and 2010 now gone after 7 years. I started paying attention to credit scores in about 2014. It's taken a few years but credit scores are now good after starting in the high 500s back in 2011

Re: Amex CLI every 6 months?

wont be long before i go before my first 3X CLI with AMEX. But since my SL is so low, should I stick with the script of 3X even though it wont be much this go around? Or has anyone ever requested more given such a small SL. My SL was $500.. My EX is 705, no collections, no lates since 2010, 27K salary.

This has already been corrected by others, but as a general rule, do not "clarify" things unless you know!

Re: Amex CLI every 6 months?

Actually, before the 60 day mark, they may approve your CLI, as they did mine within 2 weeks of opening card.

And now to just have to wait 4 and a half more months for the next one.

Total Credit Line- $89,300| Personal- $78,650 | Biz- $5,650

Re: Amex CLI every 6 months?

actually, exact dates are:

Open- 10/27/16
3X CLI- 11/16/16

So 3 weeks of account opening, was approved for 3x.

So 60 day mark isnt quite true.. However, the 180 obviously is, although i will req 3x monthly to see otherwise.

That is my point.   You are in fact not helping by posting wrong information while suggesting "clarity"

909, this is a nice data point.  I think I may have asked you in another thread already, but what was your income?  Was it $150k-$200k?

Re: Amex CLI every 6 months?

Lets all remember to be respectful of each other. Thanks for everyones understanding.

Amex no longer requires a 61 day wait post approval of a new card it can be requested at any time.
