Thanks for that info. I think I've got it now based off of that.
Groovy.

I'm sorry but this is kind of ridiculous the way Amex does CLI's.
Can you or someone else maybe just explain to me if I'm currently "ok" to ask for a CLI from Amex on my 2 cards?
I got both my cards about 8 months ago. I've never gotten a CLI on either of em. I asked for one within a week or so of getting the cards but was denied. One card has a 1k limit which is really ridiculously low for me. And the other card has a 10k limit.
I tried again a couple of months later and was denied. I tried again a couple of months later and denied again. I've tried I guess about 3 times total and it was every couple of months or so. It's been about 2 months since i've last tried.
Can you tell me based on all the info I just provided if I'm eligible to ask now, or do i need to wait another month or so?
Is there something else that might be keeping me from being eligible to ask for a CLI?
Thanks.
heh, didn't mean to confuse you more. From what info you provided, you were eligible on attempt #1 and were denied. From there you should have waited 91 days to try again but looks like you tried around day 60. On that attempt you were ineligible to try and the decline letter should have stated so, On try #3 you would have been eligible because that would have been past the 91 days from attempt #1. In that case, you will need to wait another month or so until you become eligible again after 91 days. In the future, record the dates you try on a calendar so that you know better when you are eligible again.

you're being unclear with your "couple months later" stuff. if you got it, asked in 1 week then that means that was 7.75 months ago. if you tried 2 months later then that was too early by a month. so your next one 2 months afterwards would have been fair and your most recent one is a month early so i would wait a month and a half to be safe.
*rofl*! That was awesome! I'm all cross-eyed now.
*edit* Reminded me of this:

Ok now I'm confused again. I appreciate your effort to try and explain things to me but how exactly is that I won't be safe if I ask for a CLI too early?
I thought there's absolutely no way you can be "penalized" by asking for a CLI?
If I ask too early, I'm just asking too early and nothing happens right? All I did is just waste a few minutes of time by asking for a CLI that I wouldn't have gotten anyways correct?
By suggesting I wait to be safe implies something negative might happen......?
And how am I unclear? I said I've never gotten a CLI and I explicitly laid out exactly when I requested each CLI request.
I get your point but I'm not sure you interpreted my post correctly.

That's been my experience, yes.

it makes you look less desperate asking one more time vs two more times.
That's a valid point especially if somebody manually reviews the account activity. If there's been one denial for a CLI already, that doesn't bode well for requests submitted very soon after. I dunno how much someone's approval criteria can change in 6 months. The longer the wait, I'd imagine the better the chances of a CLI.
On 2/26 I was declined for an Amex CLI. At the time my FICO was much lower than it was on the last Amex SP a day after that denial. So I just tried again just now and was declined again. I called in and was told that I was declined because it has not been more than 90 days since 2/26. The rep. definitely said that asking today did NOT reset the clock. So, May 27th for another run at it.
