I have been pushing 6-10K a month on my Gold card with most of this being my employer's charges and me being reimbursed but of course AmEx doesn't know this. I have had the card almost 10 months and now I have been pre-approved for the Platty, but I'm not sure I will accept this because I don't want to re-age my credit files and take a hit to my scores since I will be house shopping in the next couple of months.

He (she?) seems to waiver between creditworthiness (i.e. fico score) and the amount of money one can push through the card as problematic. I'm sure everyone knows that fico scores and income/spending don't always have a direct correlation. In my case, I make well in the six figures and don't mind paying for the things I want. However, my credit scores are only recently in the upper 600s (mid-score of 680) thanks to myfico. As ddd has mentioned, under the old Amex regime, you would need BOTH high ficos and high income. I'm sure ddd will correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems I remember him mentioning that he had ficos in the 600s. If that's the case, he probably wouldn't have gotten the card himself under old "prestigious" Amex.ddd what's the crux of your "loss of prestige" argument? Are you upset that customers with less than high ficos can get the card, thus making them a less than prime lender? Or are you upset that modest earners/spenders can get the card?

No need for pre school arguing this is a serous forum looking for insighfull thinking not ranting and raving from 3 year olds. This is not an I know you are but what am I forrum it's got to be friendly and helpful.
Do you live in the US? You are absolutley measured by you're bank account. SAD but thru, you will need the Kleenex when you FR'd becuse you got in SUB PRIME. I didnt make rules I'm simply stating the obvious, again you know nothing about OLD Amex. I dont care to school you if you dont know you will never know. It's kinda like if you have to ask for the price you cannot afford it. Thats old AMEX you will never understand living in you're SUB Prime world.

It's one of the reason's that facial tissues are overwhelmingly referred to as "Kleenex." Since respectful discourse is no longer possible, I hope the OP has plenty of Kleenex to lament his disillusionment over an image that only exists in the human psyche. By the way, you do know there's no Santa Claus, right?I guess some people measure prestige in terms of how much money they can spend. I'm glad my worthiness is not measured by my bank account. How sad and empty.
Yes, it's an additional account that would negatively factor in my average-age of accounts. A new inq wouldn't help either. So no, this would not be treated as an upgrade or conversion with repest to scoring..
