Amex Delta Blue vs Gold

Hi all,

My surfing of the forums has shows me most saying that the Delta Gold is one of the easier Amex cards to get. As a Delta loyalist, I would prefer a Delta card. I noticed the Delta blue today. It looks like a newer card. Would this card be easier to get since it has less perks?  I see some people say all the UW requirements for all revolvers are the same but I don't see how that's possible if it's the same card but with less perks.

Thanks!

Am curious too, but Gold sub is very tempting and reasonable too, $2000 for 6 m and get 65k miles

I don't think I've ever heard that all the revolvers have the same UW requirements. I've only heard that all the *charge cards* have the same UW.

I only know the revolvers have more stringent UW.

Co-branded cards are easier to get than Amex MR cards.

Gold is better than blue, free check bag for a group of 8 on same itinerary.

Check prequal which is a SP on initial application, then HP once accepted. Pretty solid site.

I think personally I would go for the Gold because they usually wave the annual fee in the first year. Then at the year mark you can decide and re-evaluate if you want to downgrade or keep it.

Downgrade in year 2 to Blue.

You might also invoke the wrath of the RAT at Amex following that plan.

In terms of card application, there is no difference of any of most of the credit cards.  Charge card is different.  Maybe easier since you are expected to pay the balance each month.

The Delta Blue is not a new card.  It depends on your travel need to see which card is better for you.  You can always upgrade and downgrade card to suit your needs.
