Amex Dispute Question

Hey all, so I called up Amex to try and get a refund on tickets I bought on ticketmaster for a concert next month. Today amex emails me saying that they've credited the 400 dollar charge back on my card because they haven't heard back, and if they don't hear from ticketmaster by 3/8, the case is closed. What I'm wondering is in the meantime, what happens with the tickets, are they still valid ??? It just seems odd to me that perhaps they're still good to use. I apologize if this is a weird question

In my wallet: Amex Platinum NPSL, Amex Everyday Preferred $15,000, Amex Starwood $10,000, Chase Freedom Visa Signature $10,000, Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature $15,000, Chase Ink Plus Visa Signature $5000 Barclaycard Arrival Plus MasterCard World Elite $10,000, Cap One Quicksilver MasterCard $6000, Citi Prestige World Elite MasterCard $10,000, Citi Forward Visa $6900, Citi Premier World Elite MasterCard $5,800, Discover IT $8500

They probably are good for....now.  Ticketmaster will probably cancel the tickets and if they're scanned, it will show an invalid ticket.

Curious.  What was the basis for your dispute with Ticketmaster?

Re: Amex Dispute Question

I wanted to refund the first set of tickets I bought because I got better seats a few hours later. However, I could never get in contact with them. Tried phone, email, social media, but nothing. So as a final resort I called up Amex. I know someone now who wants the tickets but I'd imagine it's too late at this juncture

Gotcha.  Yeah, could be risky in giving/selling the tickets if TicketMaster acts upon the dispute.

Does ticketmaster allow cancellations?

Re: Amex Dispute Question

Keep in mind that TicketMaster will not be happy with you for doing that. They might close your account and never sell you another ticket. Chargebacks are for disputes and this really doesn't sound like one.

Re: Amex Dispute Question

Ticketmaster purchases are non refund, right? I lost about 300 bucks on Yankees game tickets becuse the game canceled due to heavy rain. I was only visiting new York from denmark at the time, and I could not attend other game. Ticketmaster basically told me to kick rocks. And unfortunately discover agreed.

Re: Amex Dispute Question

I think it depends on the event and the time in which you attempt to refund it. I tried for 3 days to contact them, and when I never heard from them, went through Amex. I didn't want to get saddled with over 400 dollars in tickets I didn't need. If ticketmaster decides to close my account, whatever. I would just use my wife's account

Re: Amex Dispute Question

Filing a dispute with AX seems shady in my opinion.

Re: Amex Dispute Question

I wasn't trying to be shady to be honest, just wanted them to reply and get the tickets refunded
