Amex Gold..Green..Zinc all the same difficulty to get.

I keep seeing all the Amex Zinc approval threads and how some here think an Amex Zinc card is easiest to get. Nope! Per. Their credit analyst, they really have the same qualifiers other than income. Zinc isn't that great of a card because it cant be upgraded. Was told their Gold rewards card was just as easy to get as Zinc if your income can support the higher limits vs Zinc...(yes,of course they all have limits)

The reason I applied for the Zync card instead of Gold or Green is because of the annual fee. I don't really use my American Express much, but just wanted to get in with Amex and at the time I applied my credit score was in the mid 600's. I only use this card maybe once a month so to me it wasn't worth it to try to get Gold or Green considering I am barely going to use it and they come with a high annual fee.

I hate the annual fee too.

The AMEX charge cards are definately easier to get than their revolvers ~ and certainly income is part of the approval process since they want to make sure they get the $450 from the Platinum cardmemebers.

A few people here have reported being able to upgrade from ZYNC but it seems to only be available when AMEX chooses to allow it, and it's not widely available.

Depends on your spending habits.  For me, Zync is unquestionably the best card hands down out of any of their charge card products.

If I start travelling heavily again for work, then one of the others makes more sense.  Also, Amex backdates so it's not like it's a huge hassle to open up another card if you need it in terms of a hit to your AAoA or other FICO issues besides the inquiry (to one credit report, oh noes!).  Zync is a fine product if it fits your needs.

Yes, Revolvers are tougher...but charge cards are all the same credit wise. it's actually now illegal to upgrade to a card with an annual fee under new Banking regulations. so I doubt if anyone got upgraded unless it was an accident.

The CARD act only prohibits changing terms like AFs during the first year that a card is open, that is why creditors won't let you product change until the account is at least a year old.    After that it's up to the creditor to decide how and when they allow it.

The problem is when attorneys get involved they usually err to the conservative side...

Totally agree, I was going to go for the green or gold at first but didnt want to pay that AF! I want a revolver next year and a year of good history for $25 AF cant beat it!
