Amex Member since ??

Good Morning All,

I obtained an AMEX Jet Blue in Feb 08.  I use the card primarily for plane tickets and pay it off montly (or at the most 2 months).  This morning I logged on to check my balance at at the top of the screen it sayes member since 1989.  now this  may have been there all the time, but this is the 1st time that I noticed it.  Here's the deal.  I did have a card with them back in '89.  The card went bad, but I payed everything that i owed them.  My question is, should my crediti reports reflect that I have had an account with them since '89?

Lucky fella, the news is good.  to your credit, your old card history was 'resurrected' and should be updated on all of your cra's about 60 days from when they changed it on your account (mine updated in less than 3 weeks with tu and eq -i'm still waiting on ex.  amex told me to just dispute online and the data would be resent to ex and then hopefully updated)  depending on your account history this could offer a notable boost to your scores.  i gained between 15 - 35 points -since other changes happened during this time i can't be sure exactly how much of the boost was because of the longer history.  since it may also prompt a bucket shift it is hard to predict exactly what effect it will have scorewise, but it should be good for increasing the max score you can obtain in any case.  Yay- 19 years of history places you squarley in line with 'high achievers' whose oldest acct. is on avg. 19 years old according to myfico f/b.  congrats!!

Re: Amex Member since ??

Well, I've never had an Amex until April of this year, when I apped and received Blue, Green and Delta.

Just this past week I noticed when I logged in, it now says member since 1995 instead of 2008!!!

I have NEVER had an Amex card until 2008!!

This date is already being reported and is showing on my 9-16 EQ report and has increased history by 2 years, as my legitimate oldest account still on report is a 1997 car loan.  Didn't appear to have any effect on score.

I'm afraid to call Amex, though, after all the CLD drama I'm reading about.  I'm thinking I'll just let it sit til they figure out their mistake......I don't want to rock the boat!!

Re: Amex Member since ??

No, I have never, never had an Amex or been an AU or anything.

Ever.

Never.

I find it rather odd myself, as it just appeared.....before, it showed correctly as member since 2008.

Maybe they were doing updating on someone who happens to have the same name?!?!?!
