Make sure you understand the fine print when waiving insurance on rental cars! My dad's wife was killed in an at fault accident in Belize last year driving a rental. She had waived the insurance thinking her car insurance would cover it. It wouldn't cover any of it due to it not being in the US, Canada, Mexico or a US Territory. Her MC did pick up the rental car (which was totaled) but not the other car involved (a Tahoe which was also totaled) or the medical bills for the other driver. It cost my dad around $150k by the time it was said and done.
