Amex Pre Qual Question

Once you have been approved and are a member, can you no longer look at the "pre qual" page? Or is the only way to sign into your account and go to cards and look at the feature cards and check to see if you are pre-approved. Are the feature cards "pre-qualified" offers?

Re: Amex Pre Qual Question

I lost the ability to use the prequal page once I became a member but some folks get lucky going incognito.

My featured cards, so far, are all preapproved but not all preapproved cards show up in featured.

Lately I seem to be preapproved for every card except for some charge cards.

Re: Amex Pre Qual Question

Thanks @ABCD all makes sense!

I tried incognito as well, but still get "log into your account"!

So far when I click on any of the "featured cards" I get the "expanding your membership with us...", so, apparently not "pre-approved", but how do you know now what you are at least "pre qualified" for, do you know? Or do you just have to take a chance unless you become "pre-approved"?

Re: Amex Pre Qual Question

I don't have any personal data points either way because I got the Amex card I wanted (no prequalifications there either) and nothing else really interests me enough to snag.  I know folks who didn't have the preapproval text have gotten approved, but like any app, YMMV.

Hopefully someone else will put their 2 cents/MRs in.

Re: Amex Pre Qual Question

I believe once you’re in with Amex your pre-approvals become your pre-qualified cards. If you meet what they’re looking for pre-approvals tend to start coming between 60-90 days.

Some current members have been able to successfully use the incognito browser but they have to do pretty weird things to get it to work like intentional but similar misspellings or old addresses that are on your credit file. That potentially also puts incorrect info on your credit reports. (I don’t condone any of this.)

I’d say rather than try to force it, wait a little while and you’ll start to see them populate in your “Find My Offers” section.

Re: Amex Pre Qual Question

Seeing one APR listed rather than a range on revolving cards is a very good sign that you will be approved. Otherwise, if you actually click the Apply button under the card, (for me at least) every page will say “congratulations you’re preapproved” right at the top.

if one is already a member and its a sp to try for anything why does it matter if there is a pre-qual?  if one does care log in, browse all cards, hit apply on the one that is of interest and it will say pre-approved.  every card says pre-approved I select and its random if there is a hp, so you you have that glorious datapoint lol

Re: Amex Pre Qual Question

Is it normal for it to show a wide apr range like that?? I show pre approved for everything but the box apr range spooks me.

Re: Amex Pre Qual Question

General consensus and data points suggest you have a better chance of being approved with a single or very limited APR range.

I got the Gold Delta in October with a pre-approval showing and also showing the entire APR range. It was an instant approval.

YMMV, of course.

@oh there are a lot of spookier things...again with amex I see no downside in attempting to get whatever you want if you are with ax as its only a hp if approved and many times it np @ all.  I did a 3 apps yesterday for friends to get bgr 15K referrals as yesterday was the last day and 2 out of 3 where np.
