I got preapproved for an Amex card but I'm terrified of applying and getting denied. Does getting preapproved means I have a good chance of being approved?
I plan on applying once I close on my home
Yes pre-approved means pretty much if you apply you will get accepted as long as not much else has changed since they last soft pulled. If once they hard pull they see you have other new accounts or high utilization then you might get denied but if you had that already and they still pre-approved you then you should be good to go. What card are you pre approved for? Also side note if you plan on applying after you close on your home. Do it before your mortgage reports to the credit bureaus. But obviously after your loan is funded and secured keys in hand etc.

There are no guarantees. Amex is reasonably solid in their preapprovals, so if your present profile isn't worse than the one you had when they decided to preapprove you, you'll probably get the card.
(P.S. This post probably belongs under "Credit Cards").

It's been my experience they are pretty solid. In early January I was preapproved with a 674 EX score and I got approved for a BCE with a 150 dollar bonus.
