So far I have completely fallen in love with my Amex after getting it last year. We do have a lot of major travel purchases several times a year and love the points stacking up to be applied as a credit toward it. (We have managed to get back a little over $1,000 in the last 4 months).
However, I noticed after our recent cruise and vacation, they did not apply all of our vacation charges to the rewards screen to be able to apply our money back toward it.
Currently the program gives you 2 billing cycles to use your charges for the points.
****Just a heads up, the rep I spoke with today says that starting Feb 1, 2014 you will now have 6 billing cycles that your eligible charges will stay on your account in order to use your points toward payment***
I have one charge from the cruise line itself, one charge from a resort in Jamaica, and also one charge from an excursion that is not showing up.
When I called, they could see that these charges obviously belonged on my travel screen to be used toward points, but they said they could not over-ride it and will turn it in to be looked over.
However, they kept encouraging me to apply my points NOW toward other charges from our vacation that ARE appearing on the rewards page. I explained over and over to the rep that since these qualified travel expenses only remain on the account for use for only 2 billing cycles, the ones that were missing are going to be falling off by the next billing cycle and that's what I wanted to use them for. The following billing cycle after that I would have more points to be used toward the newer charges.
UGH!!!
I guess I just wanted to vent about this because I have had nothing but excellent service and a positive experience with AMEX since obtaining it. This is my first real problem.
Has anyone else had this happen to them before? If so, did they file something for you and where you able to finally get it approved/fixed and your points applied toward those transactions?
